John Ilima
Uganda Country Director
John Ilima is the country director of Uganda and brings over 10 years of experience in education, social programming, organizational leadership, and program management and evaluation to Village Enterprise. He has a special interest in transforming economically challenged communities; he founded and directed a local Ugandan nonprofit with a mission to improve youth livelihoods, with a special focus on increasing opportunities for girls. His work in this area has taken John to over five countries and earned him a coveted spot on the Mandela Washington Fellowship of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative. He holds a BA in agricultural engineering from Makerere University and a postgraduate diploma in monitoring and evaluation from Uganda Management Institute. John is currently writing a dissertation for the award of Masters of Management Studies of Uganda Management Institute.
