This Privacy Policy details certain policies implemented throughout Village Enterprise governing Village Enterprise’s use of personally identifiable information about users of our Site.
Privacy Policy Updates
Due to the Internet’s rapidly evolving nature, Village Enterprise may need to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If so, Village Enterprise will post its updated Privacy Policy on our Site located at www.villageenterprise.org, and if you are a registered user of the Site we may send you an email, so you are always aware of what personally identifiable information we may collect and how we may use this information. If any modification is unacceptable to you, you have the option to cease using this Site. If you do not cease using this Site, you will be conclusively deemed to have accepted the change.
Information Collection and Use
You can generally visit our Site without revealing any personally identifiable information about yourself. However, in certain sections of this Site, we may invite you to contact us or request information or ask you to join our mailing list. Due to the nature of some of these activities, we may collect personally identifiable information, such as your first name, last name or contact data such as your mailing address and email address. This data is stored securely on MailChimp’s servers (privacy policy found here). We may use this information to improve the content and general administration of the Site and provide you with requested information and mailings about special events, projects, opportunities to travel to the field and ways to be involved with Village Enterprise. This information will only be collected with your consent and will never be sold or rented to any third party. You may opt out of receiving these communications at any time through clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any communications, or sending an email to info@villageenterprise.org with the subject ‘Privacy’.
Children’s Privacy
Village Enterprise recognizes the privacy interests of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. This Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. Village Enterprise does not target this Site to children under 13. Village Enterprise does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
Cookies
We may use small text files called “cookies” to improve the overall Site experience. A “cookie” is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies do not permit us to personally identify you.
Aggregate Information
The Site may track your IP addresses and the pages that you visit on our website and we may analyze this data using Google Analytics (privacy policy found here) for trends and statistics in the aggregate, but such information will be maintained, used and disclosed in aggregate form only, and it will not contain personally identifiable information. We may use such aggregate information to analyze trends, administer the Site, track users’ movements within the Site and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
Disclosure
We will disclose your personally identifiable information if we reasonably believe we are required to do so by law, regulation or other government authority. We will not sell your personally identifiable information to any company or organization, although we may transfer your personally identifiable information to a successor entity upon a merger, consolidation or other corporate reorganization in which Village Enterprise participates.
Donor Information Privacy
Village Enterprise will not sell, trade or share a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Village Enterprise will only share personal information if the donor has given us specific permission to do so. This statement covers information collected both online and offline.
Village Enterprise uses a donation processing platform called Classy (privacy policy found here) which collects your first name, last name, mailing address, phone number, email, and last four digits of your credit card in order to manage your donation and provide the appropriate tax receipts. Your credit card donation is processed by Authorize.net (privacy policy found here). Village Enterprise uses Salesforce, a customer relationship management database (privacy policy found here) to store personal information related to your donation. We transitioned to using Classy in December 2015 and Salesforce in September 2016 for storage of donor information primarily because of the reputation both companies have for strong data security.
Links to Third Party Sites
The Site may provide links to other Web sites or resources over which Village Enterprise has no control (“External Web Sites”). Such links do not constitute an endorsement by Village Enterprise of those External Web Sites. You acknowledge that Village Enterprise is providing these links to you only as a convenience, and further agree that Village Enterprise is not responsible for the content of such External Web Sites. Your use of External Web Sites is subject to the terms of use and privacy policies located on the linked External Web Sites.
Security
Village Enterprise may employ procedural and technological security measures such as password protection that are reasonably designed to help protect your personally identifiable information from loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.
While Village Enterprise strives to implement processes and protocols that keep your personal information as safe as possible, there is always the possibility of a breach. In the event that your data has been compromised in our system, we will inform you as soon as possible.

You have rights when it comes to your personal data and how we process it. You have the right to be informed about what data is collected (outlined in this privacy policy), you have the right to request access to a copy of your data, you have the right to correct your data in our systems, you have the right to request that we erase your data (although we are required to retain certain donation information for auditing purposes), you have the right to restrict what data we process, and you have the right to object to the use of your data for direct marketing.
