Sylvere Mwizerwa, our first-ever Rwanda country manager, leads Village Enterprise to grow its impact to historic highs, helping our first-time entrepreneurs start and run businesses. He brings more than 10 years of experience in social entrepreneurship and the private sector to his position. Prior to joining Village Enterprise, Sylvere served as deputy director of social enterprise at Sustainable Harvest Rwanda Limited/Relationship Coffee Institute, a social enterprise that reinvests its proceeds into over 30,000 women coffee growers in Rwanda, generating over $1M in income since its inception in Kigali in 2016. Previously, Sylvere served as country head of operations for Sustainable Health Enterprise (SHE), a social enterprise that provides a sustainable plan to tackle an urgent global problem: girls’ and women’s lack of access to affordable menstrual pads. As the Operations Officer for Global Engagement Institute., Sylvere led initiatives that connected Rwandan historical sites and communities to more than ten international universities across the world. Sylvere has been a research assistant for scholars and researchers from academic institutions such as Yale, Harvard, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Manchester, and was a Rwanda representer at the One Young World summits in Johannesburg in 2013 and Dublin city in 2014. Sylvere graduated with honors from the University of Rwanda, where he received a BS in accounting sciences.
