Leah Bwari Okero
Kenya Country Director
Driven by her passion to provide opportunities for vulnerable communities across Africa to improve their lives, Leah has over 11 years of experience in implementing and managing food security, livelihood, and education programs. Her background spans project design and management, market systems development, strengthening social resilience capacities, government engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and resource mobilization. As the Kenya Country Director, Leah oversees operations and successful implementation of the Village Enterprise Poverty Graduation Program in Kenya, as well as focusing on team building, financial oversight, safeguarding, and the development of new project proposals to continue scaling Village Enterprise’s work and impact.
During her tenure at Village Enterprise, Leah previously held the Director of Partnerships and USAID Nawiri Program Manager roles. Prior to joining Village Enterprise, Leah worked for USAID, USDA, SIDA, UKAID-funded programs in various INGOs including Land O’Lakes, ACDI/VOCA, Heifer International, and ICL where she designed and implemented various multi-million dollar programs to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities. Leah is currently in her final stage of the MA in Project Planning and Management program at the University of Nairobi and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the same university.
